Friday:

  • The annual Florida Gulf Coast Clusters is the largest dog show in the state and it is held right here in Hernando County at Florida Classic Park. Featuring thousands of dogs from all over the world, 10 American Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Shows, conformation, junior showmanship, obedience trials, rally trials and free show tours to learn all about AKC dog shows.ben hur
  • Winter Gala 2014 (Ballroom Dance) 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm featuring live music including the cha cha, foxtrot, merengue, polka, rhumba, swing, tango, waltz, and a few line dances. In addition to dancing, there will be 50-50 drawings, and a winter-themed photo station.
  • “When Art Greets The Past” exhibit Artist’s Reception 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm featuring an evening of art, food, and entertainment.
  • Judah Ben-Hur, the Musical (live at 7:30 pm) is a magical tale of romance, comedy and adventure. The audience is invited to re-live the legend of Rome’s great character, the hate that nearly destroyed him and the love of Christ that transformed him.
  • Forbidden Broadways Greatest Hits 8:00 pm at Stage West Community Playhouse pays a comical and entertaining tribute to some of theater’s greatest stars and songwriters. Tickets are $15.
  • Hernando Heritage Museum Ghost Tour by reservation only for ages 16 and up. Legend has it that the Heritage Museum, a four-story, 12-room house, built more than 151 years ago by Brooksville pioneer John May, is inhabited by the spirits of long-deceased family members, including May’s 3-year-old daughter, Jessie. The Museum offers ghost tours on Friday and Saturday nights from 8:00-10:00 p.m.

Saturday:

  • Free Bully Awareness Program 8:30 am – 9:30 am designed for kids who are being or have been bullied, as well as their parents and those who suspect bullying is occurring.BR09-77
  • 34th Annual Brooksville Raid Re-enactment (a re-creation of a Civil War battle that happened in Hernando County in July of l864) 9:00 am – 5:30 pm with more than 1,500 reenactors and their families, 28 cannons, 60 horses, and over 60 sutlers (vendors). Attendees can tour authentic confederate and union camps and actually see how they lived and what it was like during the Civil War and enjoy a variety of food and beverages including kettle corn, old time root beer, and fry bread. In addition to the food concessions, battle reenactment, and camp tours there will also be anvil shoots, artillery demonstrations, and a ladies tea.
  • Annual Free Throw Championship 9:00 am – 12:00 pm where boys and girls of Hernando County who are age 10 to 14 are invited to show off their basketball skills.
  • Florida Manatee Festival 9:00 am – 5:00 pm is taking over downtown Crystal River with live music, juried art show, arts and crafts booths, and dozens of food and beverage vendors.
  • Local Authors Showcase 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Spring Hill Branch Library. Meet local authors and hear them speak about their work and the publishing process
  • Johnny Cash Tribute Show 7:00 pm featuring a national act that comes to us from St. Louis, Missouri to bring the sounds of Johnny Cash and June Carter in a show you won’t want to miss!authors2
