Two Hernando County residents were killed within hours of each other in separate car accidents in Pasco County. 38 year old Michael James Prater of Brooksville was involved in a crash on the afternoon of Friday, July 21, 2017. Prater was traveling southbound on Bellamy Brothers Boulevard approaching a curve at Bent Fork Road when he lost control of the Ford Ranger he was driving and entered the northbound lane and the path of a Ford F450. Prater was airlifted to an area hospital but expired from injuries sustained during the crash.
Around 6:30 the following morning 24 year old Vanessa Pheobie Lobo of Spring Hill was driving southbound on U.S. 41 when her Hyundai Elantra ran off the road for unknown reasons as she was approaching the intersection at Ensemble Boulevard. The car departed the southbound lane, traveled across the northbound lane, and collided with a tree on the east shoulder of the road. Lobo sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Michael and Vanessa.
