Pasco deputies arrested a Dade City man today after he admitted to pouring scalding water on a 2-year-old child. 26-year-old Jonathan Lee Howard, of 38101 Willingham Drive, was arrested for child neglect after the 2-year-old girl he had custodial supervision of suffered 2nd-degree burns on her scalp, torso, arm, vagina, buttocks, and leg. The child was airlifted to a local hospital where medical staff advised the wound pattern was consistent with a scalding hot liquid. Howard first claimed the victim may have been burned by a lighter that exploded while he was sleeping. He later admitted to pouring hot water on her. He also neglected to take the victim for medical care until the next day (today).
Howard has been booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
