National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Hernando

nami2NAMI Hernando (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the community‚Äôs voice for mental health through support, advocacy, and educational services. They offer free classes including a six week Basics Class that is taught by NAMI trained mentors for parents or care givers of children under 18 with ADHD, Bipolar, ODD or a similar diagnosis to gain a better understanding of the child and their diagnosis. NAMI’s Peer-to-Peer Class gives attendees the opportunity to share experiences with peers who are working toward recoveries gain a deeper knowledge about how to cope with difficult circumstances, learn to identify feelings, thoughts, behaviors and events that could lead to a relapse and teach them how to strengthen interpersonal relationships. Peer to Peer classes are taught by individuals who are controlling their illness and living productive lives. They also offer life enrichment activities such as bowling outings and art classes and weekly family support groups. All support groups and educational programs are free and open to the public at 10554 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL. Registration is required and enrollment is limited.
