An 18 year old Spring Hill man was arrested for allegedly discharging a flare gun into two Hernando County homes over the weekend. On May 12, 2017 the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house on Timbercrest Road in Spring Hill after the resident reported that something was shot through his living room window. The man said he was existing his bathroom when he saw a bright light and heard a sizzling noise. A small, burnt, cylindrical shaped item was laying on his bedroom floor, the wall was charred where the item had ricocheted, and there was smoke throughout the house. The responding deputy was advised that Brooksville PD was investigating a similar incident that had occurred 30 minutes earlier and they had a suspect, Jachob Hollenbeck, in custody. Hollenbeck admitted to possessing the flare gun. He said he brought it to his friend’s house to shoot it off in the sky but denied shooting it into the two homes. He also admitted that he had been getting high and consuming alcohol while at the friend’s house. Hollenbeck was arrested and is facing two weapons offenses.
