Hit and Run Driver Causes Major Collision on I-75, Semi Jackknifes

Hernando County hit and runFlorida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a white passenger car that caused a major wreck on I-75 early this morning involving a second car and a semi truck and then fled the scene. Around 1:30 this morning a driver made an improper lane change and hit a Honda Civic being driven by an 18 year old Brooksville man. The Civic rotated and came to rest in the center lane and the other driver fled the scene. A semi driving behind the Honda Civic attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The semi, driven by a 66 year old Georgia man, hit the Civic and jackknifed, colliding with the center median barrier before coming to a final rest blocking the northbound lanes of I-75. The Civic was propelled by the semi and came to a final rest along the outside shoulder of the road. The vehicle that initially caused the crash and fled the scene could only be described as a white passenger car.
