A free class “This, Not That, Beautiful Natives to Replace Problem Plants” will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Chinsegut Conservation Center – 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville 34601 at 10:00 a.m. Participants will learn about invasive exotic plants; why they are harmful, and specific native plants which are better options. Free Class –Seductive Invaders
Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Seductive Invaders” on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at University of Florida IFAS Extension at Hernando County, 16110 Aviation Loop Dr, Brooksville, FL 34604. Lilly Browning, Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, will present this class. Participants will learn about common plants which may be beautiful, but which are causing harm to our local environment. They will also learn about appropriate replacement plants which are beautiful and beneficial.
Free Class –Much Ado About Mulch
Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Much Ado About Mulch” on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr. at 10:30 a. m. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. What kind of mulch should I use? How much mulch should I use? Will it attract bugs? What about rubber mulch or rocks? All of these questions and more will be answered at this informative class. Free class. No registration necessary.
Rain Barrel Workshop on July 31
Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel workshop on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 10:30 a. m. The Workshop will be held at the Hernando County Utilities Building (Former Tampa Bay Times Building) 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville 34613. Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop.
To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop you must pre-register and send a check for $50 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop July 31” on the envelope. Checks only accepted. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. All sales final.
