Residents are invited to attend a free class, “To Sod or Not to Sod” on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr. at 10:30 a. m. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Is it time to redo your landscape? Have you moved into a new home? This class will cover the benefits and difficulties of Florida lawn grasses as well as turf alternatives. Free Class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – Breaking the Lawn Habit

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Breaking the Lawn Habit” on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville, at 10:00am. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Sometimes lawns are just not practical. Learn how to think outside of the green rectangle, and explore alternate ground covers. Free class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – Coping With Drought in the Landscape

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Coping With Drought in the Landscape” on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr. at 3:00 p.m. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning and Urban Horticulture Agent, Dr. William Lester. SWFWMD has declared a Modified Phase III Water Shortage. Learn what that means for people in Hernando County, and how to keep your landscape going under watering restrictions. Free Class. No registration necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop on July 26

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel workshop on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:30 a. m. The Workshop will be held at the Hernando County Utilities Building (Former Tampa Bay Times Building) 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville 34613. Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop. To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop you must pre-register and send $55 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop July 26” on the envelope. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55 gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel. All sales final. Please call 352-540-6230 for more information.
